What's an STI?
Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) are viruses, bacteria, and parasites that can be passed through sexual activity.
STIs are like other infections people get (e.g., the Flu), but stigma often prevents people from getting tested and treated.
Sometimes STIs get referred to as STDs (sexually transmitted diseases) but we no longer use this term because the word diseases is associated with a lot of stigma and fear.
